I fell in love at first sight with this fish. A gentle sea serpent with mirror skin and mysterious habits ! Visiting from the Abyss, proudly crowned with a punkish crest... incredible ! And to really appreciate the beauty of its reflective skin, I made two versions of it !
The fluke is made to fit the Linden or Fin Fun AMP monofins, with a light insert adding structure and as little weight as possible.
The Dark Regalec is awaiting its official photoshoot with my ambassador Rosie Mermaid and I can't wait ! But here is a little sneak peak.
The price starts at 210€ without insert, and a full tail with insert is 400€. I do recommend this kind of insert for a structured fluke which does not impede your swimming !
Régalec : Light Version
Fun fact... in the wild, regalecs often sport a cut tail ! They are the only fish known to this day to performe autotomy, or self-amputation... like lizards, but apparently it serves to save energy rather than escape predators. A little hardcore, and what a challenge to design a missing bit ! I elected to resort to an artistic fluke reminiscing of the crown, based on a cousin species. The real tail is not suited for humans with monofins!
Régalec : Dark Version
I was able to test my prototype during the Morganez' s annual meet-up, the Mermaids of French Brittany. They helped me capture the design over and under the surface to check out the painted reflections.
The very firs dive ! Here with the Fin Fun and the insert to test its manœuvrability. I back flipped with no effort.
I used colours which would reflect those of clear waters.
It does not look bad for a fake mirror effect ! The tail switches colours with light.
